The Winter City - Bengaluru

Cold winds are on their way, been waiting for 2 long years to rejoice this weather in Bengaluru. The Garden city was gifted with pleasant weather all through the year; even walk-ins from rest of the states have no second thoughts about it. But a winter in here is always a special one. You know its winter when you pull another thick blanket over you and get back to sleep for an hour more. you know its winter when you start disliking AC in office, You know its winter when you start feeling you are in need of a sweater or a nice pullover to walk out of the house. You know its winter when you need a coffee every now and then looking out and feeling the cold breeze. You know its winter when your solar heater doesn't give you hot water anymore and you end up shivering after the cold shower.

While I write this I have a great view of sky from my cubicle, Can see electronic city express way to my eye level and the light blue background of clouded sky drizzling in slow motion... Just picturesque, its just a trailer yet. Asked a friend what he thought of winter days in Bangalore, Sachin says winter is the time for comfort, for good food at a nearby restro, the touch of a friendly hand, a talk beside the fire, and ofcourse Chill out with friends with a beer in Beer club. Another co worker, a girl from Nainital says winter isn't a winter at all in Bangalore... Winter is when you need heaters in your room and thick woolen sweaters covered till finger tips which she has witnessed back in north. But she still loves the pleasant winter in here which doesn't impact our routine and lets us chillax with warm clothes and hot coffee. We all agree that we don’t have snowfall nor rich fog around us but that natural smoke which comes out when when we breath out in the winter mornings delights us to life. A long drive in an open road clears out mind gives the feel of an hill station, a touch of dew on the grass in an open park takes us back to childhood.

Winter is never a good news for Engg Students whose semester exams fall during winter, ah that phase of life which even I have come across, neither could stay up late nor could have got up in the morning to study. For the rest it’s the most romantic time of the year, couples cuddle in to feel warmth. Singles curse themselves if only they hadn't broke up.

Food in winter is certainly yummier than any other season specially the hot and spicy ones. Hot Bajji, Pakode, MasalaPuri, Full hold Corn...Oh wait!! Not to disappoint the non-veggies chilly chicken, Butter chicken and what not.  Also to mention sometimes an ice cream in the freezing cold is an insanely nice feeling. It’s a feast for those likes to cook back at home, have already started with French fries and Bajji, next in list are hot soup and Aloo bonda and yes you are invited...!!!

What's an Ideal Sunday in winter?  An early morning walk in LalBagh feeling the fresh air, Idly/Coffee in Brahmins Cafe, Full meals in MTR, an evening walk in Sankey with BhelPuri & Butter chicken/Garlic naan in a Punjabi restaurant.  At the end of winter I want to say... Been there done that.

Winter is Coming...Signing off with a cup of hot coffee…!!!
